Dr. Amera McCoy, an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, is the Owner and Founder of McCoy Consulting LLC, an organization that offers a suite of services for businesses and individuals including lending solutions, coaching, writing and workshops. Prior to starting her own business, Dr. McCoy worked within the financial industry for over 11 years. Her job roles entailed managing up to 50 people within vendor management, change management, and business support roles. Dr. McCoy began writing short stories for clients in 2015 which led to co-writing credit on Grammy-nominated singer Syleena Johnson’s, critically acclaimed book “The Weight is Over”. The books’ success continued to grow and allowed for an opportunity to exit the corporate world for small business ownership. She has since worked with a number of musical artists, including the 2020 Blues Hall of Fame inductee Syl Johnson. In 2016, McCoy Consulting launched with eight clients, 4 published books, and over three million in small business owner city contracts negotiated. Dr. McCoy continues to leverage her business acumen and writing skills to assist businesses with planning, strategy, lending, and vendor negotiation. Her consulting services continue to grow as she takes on more clients every year. Dr. McCoy received her Ph.D. in Business Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She resides in Chicago, IL with her eight-year-old daughter.
