ビジネスにおいては、起業家としての歩みにおいて、成長と規模という 2 つの重要な目的地があり、資金調達に関してはそれぞれに異なるニーズがあります。成長はエキサイティングなロードトリップに出発するようなものです。目的地は決まっていますが、そこに行くには燃料（資金）が必要です。それは新しい道を模索し、未知の領域に向かって加速することであり、多くの場合、前進するために投資が必要です。一方、スケールは、長距離旅行のためにより効率的な車両にアップグレードするようなものです。このルートに価値があることは証明されましたが、今度は、燃料をあまり消費せずに遠くの目的地に到達できる、より合理的で効果的な移動方法のための資金が必要です。
創業者または CEO として、資金を探す際には、遠征 (成長) の準備をしているのか、それとも長距離の旅 (規模) の準備をしているのかを知ることが重要です。成長段階では、探検の燃料と興奮に資金を提供してくれる投資家を探しています。規模の段階では、旅を改良し、よりスムーズにし、さらに遠くの場所に到達するための支援を探します。自社が成長段階にあるのか、規模拡大段階にあるのかを知ることは、どの資金源を探すべきか、いつ資金源を確保すべきかについて、適切なタイミングで適切な決定を下すための鍵となります。
In your experience, how are entrepreneurship and innovation related?
起業家 他の人が気づかないような問題を発見し、ビジネスやその他の洞察力を利用して問題を解決するための独自の革新的なソリューションを作成して、それらのソリューションを市場に投入することを決意します。ほとんどの女性起業家は、市場で他の人に見落とされがちな問題を発見し、自分が情熱を注げることに取り組み、多くの場合、主要なユーザーや顧客だけでなく社会にも影響を与えます。私の経験では、すべての起業家は好奇心旺盛で、問題の解決と発見に情熱を持っており、多くの場合、他の人よりも先に物事を見るビジョンと先見の明を持ち、システム、市場、業界を揺るがす気概と忍耐力を持っている傾向があります。イノベーター（企業、組織、学術界を問わず、非常に創造的で、オープンで、未知の領域を探索し、新しいプロセスや物事の見方を創造したり、自分が必要としているか望んでいることさえ知らなかった製品やサービスの新しいカテゴリを作成することが大好き、またはその傾向がある） ! 会社を成長させ、規模を拡大し、各段階で適切な資金を見つけることができるようにするには、起業家であると同時にイノベーターである必要があり、資金調達戦略と行動計画を現在の段階に合わせて常に調整し、次の段階への道のりを加速する必要があります。次のステージ。
What was the most challenging thing for you to change? How did it shape you and your business?
Moving from solopreneur to having a team was the first challenge for me as I had been used to doing it all myself for a few years! It made me a better leader and allowed me to allocate more of my time to finding more innovative ways to support women entrepreneurs to find funding, instead of being in the daily ‘trenches’. I can focus on creating more innovative solutions than I could before. I’ve always been ambitious with plans to grow and scale so those next phases will be clearer for me.
Why / how did this challenge you?
It’s hard to break habits and when you are used to being a solopreneur and doing it all yourself, you can often find it hard to ask for help or delegate, I certainly did. Thankfully I’ve no problem doing these anymore. I have also learned to value and manage my time better, our most important resource as an entrepreneur.
What did you learn about planning for scale or growth (from immersion now or in retrospect after)?
To make more time for planning and also to see how far we’ve come too, looking at what we’ve learned at each stage to help us improve processes and ways of communicating things to uplevel. When I founded Global Invest Her in 2013, hardly anybody was focusing on funding for women entrepreneurs, we are now global catalysts in the field of access to funding for women entrepreneurs and advocacy on the topic.
What most surprised you about making this change and where did you most surprise yourself?
That I could have done it a lot sooner, gotten more out of my own way.
When I was able to negotiate the first bank loans to build the first versions of our tech in the first few months much more easily than I thought.
Anne’s Key Tips: What key tips should every woman entrepreneur explore when preparing to raise money?
Work on your mindset and in particular, when it comes to funding, your money blockers – the limiting beliefs about money and funding that can hold you back. Put yourself out there, network, network, network because looking for funding is all about building connections and growing your relationships with potential investors, funders, advisors, team members, partners. And my favourite saying – “Think Big, Believe in Yourself and Ask for Money” – which apply perfectly at every change point!
