Want to empower your startup team? Use technology to help them innovate everywhere

There are more opportunities than ever to work and innovate from anywhere. This opens up new ways for startups to recruit diverse talent, build stronger teams and maximize their potential, but needs to be underpinned with the right tech investments.

To create a culture where your team can work and innovate everywhere, you’ll need to have the right technology in place. Startups’ fast pace and agility are key to staying competitive, and choosing tools that allow you to share ideas, track progress and seize opportunities will help you to keep momentum as you grow.

In the last few years, there has been an explosion in demand for products that cater to all sorts of specific needs, allowing employees to keep in touch wherever and whenever they’re working. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so here’s how to identify your own requirements and empower your team to do their best work.

Speak to employees and be flexible

Every startup is different. When building your digital infrastructure, think about the needs of your business as well as your team’s personal preferences.

Nosso Innovation Catalyst study revealed that 81% of decision makers believe they’re providing their employees with the right technology, including communication tools and AI-optimized software.

But many also said that improvement is needed, and that they didn’t have the tools to work and innovate from everywhere – raising the question of whether the technology being invested in is what is actually needed to improve those companies’ workflows.

The key to getting it right is to be genuinely flexible. Ask your employees what best suits them and be receptive to this feedback. How do your employees need to communicate? What barriers are slowing them down or limiting collaboration? What bottlenecks are frustrating them?

Your choice of technology and approach will influence how your startup operates, both now and in the future. While it’s important to avoid adopting software or technology you don’t actually need, it’s better to invest in technology early that allows you to resolve issues before you start to scale.

Open up lines of communication

We all need to connect with our team throughout the day, regardless of where we’re located. It’s a core part of project management and an essential pillar of innovative thinking. There are a vast number of platforms to streamline communication, so you can choose a tool that will fit seamlessly into your current processes.

An effective communication platform will be crucial as your startup grows, so try to get this in place as early as possible. There will be greater demands on your business and team, and more complicated processes to manage. You’ll want to bounce ideas back and forth without worrying about technical problems or lags, wherever your team is working.

In addition to instant messaging, file-sharing and group chats, look for video capabilities too. If you need to quickly share a progress update or get feedback on an idea, it’s much easier to be able to join a video call or record your screen. An AI-powered tool that can summarize transcripts and pull out key takeaways and actions will work even harder to keep your team on track and ensure nothing gets lost.

Streamline workflows for better productivity

Startups often need to collaborate with freelancers, contractors or other businesses as they grow, which can be hard to organize when you’re working alone or have a small team. You need to be able to effectively manage projects, prioritize tasks and be as productive as possible with the time and resources you have.

At minimum, make sure you’re using cloud storage. This will keep your files secure and accessible, and help your team to work collaboratively from different locations. If you’re looking for greater levels of flexibility or security, using multiple clouds (known as multi-cloud) enables you to match the best cloud service to a specific business requirement.

AI is another essential for modern workplaces. It offers a wide range of scalable solutions to automate processes, set priorities and improve productivity. Even if tasks only take a couple of minutes, those minutes add up – optimise your processes wherever possible and you’ll empower your team to be more creative and strategic.

Equip your team with powerful technology

While AI can provide an extra pair of hands to automate routine workflows, ambitious startups should be exploring its full potential.

Powerful AI tools can accelerate innovation by unlocking greater speed, efficiency and security across your business, whatever your industry. From personalizing customer buying experiences to optimizing transport routes and enabling predictive maintenance of equipment, AI can support innovation in every area of a business.

When it comes to putting robust hardware in place for growth, AI PCs offer substantial power to keep AI-driven applications running smoothly. In addition to quicker processing, AI PCs can also include capabilities like intelligent search, fast text-to-image generation and instant translation for maximum productivity.

Whatever technology you choose, the key is flexibility. The modern workplace will continue to evolve and the most successful businesses will be the ones that can move with the tide. Empowering your team to work from anywhere is the first step to building a startup that is dynamic, resilient and able to adapt for the future.
